BATAVIA, IL. FEBRUARY 25,2002-Effective as of Feb. 18 Producers Chemical
Company, Inc. has successfully purchased the Illinois Packaged Products business from
PVS Nolwood Chemicals, Inc. of Detroit, Michigan.
As a result of the purchase, Producers Chemical Company acquired the company's
existing customer list as well as current inventories of the packaged business. Producers
plans to integrate the Illinois Packaged Products business into their existing customer
base from their Batavia, Illinois location.
"This purchase gives us the opportunity to significantly grow our business while
providing improved customer service and support for our new customer base. In addition,
with the synergy of our broader product line, the potential for growth is greatly
enhanced," said Roger Harris, president Producers Chemical Company.
The core business of PVS Chemicals in Illinois is the bulk production and sale of sulfur
based products. Historically, PVS has filled and sold package goods of its core products,
and in 1996 they purchased the customer list and assets of CP Hall's package chemical
business, which they then integrated into their existing tote/drum business.
Due to the lack of core status of the tote/drum business to PVS at their Illinois location
and the company's preference not to compete with its own customers in this business,
PVS decided to sell their Packaged Product business.
At the same time. Producers Chemical Company was ready to buy. As a solid company
with a loyal customer base, Producers felt that they would have the ability to transform
and grow the packaged business, which is Producer's core strength.
All PVS customers have been notified of the purchase. Effective immediately, all orders
placed with PVS will now be fulfilled by Producers Chemical Company.
